Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this event has been postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The Choral Directors’ Association (Singapore) (“CDAS”) is proud to present the National Choral Convention 2020 at Aliwal Arts Centre.
The theme for this year’s Convention is “Engaging the Music”. To engage in music requires us to participate in and find a connection with music. This connection can take on many facets and involve many parties including our choir members, the audience and the composer. To help us understand how we can engage our music, we are delighted to have our panel of speakers – Dr Joel Navarro, Mr Mak Chi Hoe and Ms Yap Shing Min – to share their knowledge and experience in how they engage music.
Following the success of the local choral composition showcase last year, we continue to engage our Singaporean composers by showcasing four of them – Jason Ong, Wen Sim, Americ Goh and Kenneth Tay – who will share their works with us in an intimate setting.
We are also pleased to have Ms Choy Siew Woon to lead the Student Track where our young music leaders will have an experiential learning on what it means to be a music leader. This will culminate into a premiere performance of two new works written specially for this event. We hope that the seeds planted in them over the two days will allow them to better engage their peers in music making.
CDAS promotes the art of choral singing in Singapore and provides assistance to the continued development of its members. We look forward to meeting you at the CDAS National Choral Convention 2020!
